Regulations

DEFINITION

The Gran Fondo la Falla will take place on Saturday 2 September 2023, starting at 8:00 am. The race will start and finish in the town of Barruera and will pass through the roads of Ribagorça and Ribagorza.
The march is non-competitive. The organiser will ensure the optimal circulation of cyclists at critical points of the route where, due to the coincidence with other road users, it is necessary to reinforce the existing road safety measures.
The Gran Fondo will be subject to the provisions of articles 15 and following of annex II of Royal Decree 1428/2003, of 21 November, which approves the General Traffic Regulations for the application and development of the articulated text of the Law on traffic, circulation of motor vehicles and road safety, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 339/1990, of 2 March.

 

MODALITIES AND DISTANCES

The event offers three options for participation:

-Small Distance: 80k / +1340m D+

-Gran Fondo: 135k / +2800m D+

 

PARTICIPATION AND INSURANCE

– The minimum age to participate in the Gran Fondo course is 18 years old on the day of the race. The minimum age to participate in the short and medium distance course is 16 years old on the day of the race.
– The use of an approved helmet is compulsory throughout the entire course.
– It is not permitted to participate in time trial or mountain bikes.
– Each participant takes part in the event at his/her own risk and declares that he/she is in optimum physical condition and has sufficient technical skills to take part in the event.

– The organisers recommend that all participants take a medical examination prior to the event to detect and rule out any anomaly that is incompatible with cycling.

– During the bib collection process all participants must show their ID card.

– The organisation has a civil liability insurance policy in accordance with current legislation. Non-federated participants will have a day accident insurance contracted by the organisation. This insurance will cover the following points:

Unlimited medical assistance for sports accidents in Spanish territory.
Disability according to the scale for sports accidents up to 12.000€.
Death due to sporting accident up to 6.000€.
Notification of the sporting accident must be on the same day as the sporting event. Coverage of medical or medical-surgical assistance will only be in the health care centres agreed by the insurance company.

 

REGISTRATION

Registration is personal and non-transferable and implies acceptance of all the articles of these regulations, as well as the conditions of purchase.
Registrations will be closed when the quota established by the organisation is reached or on the Thursday before the race.

-Cancellation Insurance: In case of cancellation the organisation will only refund the amount of the cancellation if the participant concerned has made the payment of the refund insurance at the time of registration, which is set at 10€ and which will be deposited for the expenses incurred. This refund will only be made up to 15 days before the start of the race. After this date no registration will be refunded.

 

JERSEY, RACE BIB AND CHIP

The organisation will provide the following obligatory material for all participants:
– A race jersey (it is compulsory to wear it during the race).
– A bib-chip, which must be worn on the front of the bicycle.
– A participant’s identification bracelet, which will be put on when collecting the material and will be worn throughout the race.
The official jersey is compulsory for all participants and constitutes a security and control element because all the auxiliary personnel involved in the race can identify at all times who are participants and who are not.
Without the jersey it will not be possible to enter the start line or appear in the classification.
Nor will it be possible to be assisted by the mechanics at the assistance points or by the volunteers at the refreshment points.
All registrations made after 1st August do not guarantee the size of the jersey requested. The organisation will do its best to ensure that this is the case, but there is no guarantee that the size requested on the form will be available.

 

COLLECTION OF THE JERSEY

All identification material (official race jersey) will be collected when picking up the race bib, as specified on the race website.
No jerseys or bibs will be handed out after the deadline. Participants who do not collect their jerseys within the indicated period will lose their right to them. So that you do not lose this material, it can be collected by family, friends, club mates, etc. with a copy of your ID card.

 

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

In the case of extraordinary weather conditions or force majeure not attributable to the organisation and which make it impossible to hold the cyclotourist ride, the organisation will not assume any responsibility and will not make any refund of the registration fee.

Once the registration for the event has been made, no refund will be made, unless the event is suspended by decision of the organisation, for reasons attributable to it and/or for reasons related to the Coronavirus pandemic. In the cases described above, the registration fee will be refunded minus a €2 administration fee.

 

ACCOMMODATION BOOKINGS

The amount due for the accommodation package must be paid at the time of booking on the event registration form. If payment is not received, no booking will be confirmed. EMP Sport Events will not refund in case of cancellation of the accommodation package by the participant. Only if cancellation insurance has been taken out, the cost of accommodation will be refunded. This insurance will be valid until 15 days before the event. Under no circumstances will the part corresponding to the amount of the insurance be refundable.

 

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND SECURITY

The event has a very extensive medical service and all medical personnel will be authorised to withdraw any participant for medical reasons.
It is compulsory to bring a charged mobile phone during the race and it is highly recommended to bring a pair of sleeves to protect you from the cold on the downhill sections. The mobile phone will be essential when contacting the emergency telephone numbers listed on the race bib in case of breakdown or medical issues.

 

ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

The participant, by registering for the event, accepts the specific regulations of the event and certifies that he/she knows that the route is open to traffic and must respect the Road Safety Law and the General Traffic Regulations in application, as well as the indications of the authorities and the organisation’s volunteers.
The participant undertakes the event under his or her own responsibility. Likewise, he/she declares that he/she is in optimum physical condition for the development of the race and does not suffer from any illness that could put his/her physical integrity at risk. The participant is informed through the website of the event and by means of a brief briefing by the organisation of all the characteristics of the activity (physical, psychological, material, place, etc.). The participant declares that he/she undertakes the activity with full knowledge of them, acknowledging that the activity to be undertaken may be physically demanding and may have unforeseeable consequences for health. The participants exempt, in any case, the organisation from claims or demands for accidents or illnesses that may be contracted, manifest or aggravate during the event, by actions or omissions, for personal or material damage, and, without limitation, for theft, robbery or deterioration / loss of material that may be produced by their own acts, by other participants, or even third parties during the development of the activity.

 

PERSONAL DATA

The participants of the event, by registering, give their consent for EMP Sport Events, by itself or through third parties, to automatically process their personal data for exclusively sporting, promotional or commercial purposes. In accordance with the provisions of the Organic Law 3/2018, of 5 December, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD) and the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016, relating to the protection of natural persons, have implemented those policies, means and technical and organisational procedures to ensure and protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of personal data of its users. The participant has the right to access these files in order to rectify or cancel all or part of their content. To do so, he/she must request it by email to info@wefeelevents.com.

Likewise, and in accordance with the sporting interests, promotion and exploitation of the event throughout the world (reproduction of photographs of the circuit, broadcasting of videos, publication of rankings, etc.) by means of any device (television, Internet, graphic advertising, etc.) and without time limit, the registered participants expressly grant the organisation the right to reproduce their name and surname, the place obtained in the ranking, their photographs and their videos.

 

CIVILITY AND RESPECT

Participants accept each of the articles of these regulations and undertake to participate in an honest manner according to the traffic rules and to cover the entire course before crossing the finish line. Likewise, they declare to be respectful with the staff involved in the organisation and with the other participants.
They also undertake to treat their own and other people’s sports equipment with respect, as well as to wear a regulation helmet, which is obligatory throughout the entire route.
In order to contribute to the minimum environmental impact of the event, participants will use the containers located at the refreshment posts and strategic points to dispose of packaging, wrappers or leftover food and will refrain from throwing anything onto the road along the route.

The organisers reserve the right to make changes to the rules, informing the participants of this situation by any means. The event organisers may expel any participant from the event who does not comply with the rules, without any refund of the registration fee. If circumstances so require, the event may be interrupted at a point along the route.
